Who We Are

About GAVPP

For over two decades, the Georgia Violence Prevention Partnership has united communities, organizations, and leaders across the state in the shared mission of ending violence.

Why We Exist

Our Mission

The Georgia Violence Prevention Partnership exists to reduce and prevent violence across Georgia by building the capacity of communities, strengthening systems, and advancing evidence-based strategies that promote safety, healing, and justice for all Georgians.

Our Vision

A Georgia where every person lives free from violence — in their homes, schools, and communities.

Prevention First

We believe violence is preventable. Every program we run is grounded in evidence-based prevention strategies.

Community-Led

Solutions must come from within communities. We amplify local voices and build local capacity.

Equity & Justice

We address the root causes of violence, including systemic inequities that put communities at greater risk.

Trauma-Informed

We approach every interaction with an understanding of how trauma shapes lives and healing.

Collaboration

No single organization can end violence alone. We build bridges across sectors and disciplines.

Accountability

We hold ourselves to the highest standards of transparency, data integrity, and program effectiveness.

Two Decades of Impact

Our History

Founded in 2006 by Dr. James P. Griffin, Professor at Morehouse School of Medicine, the Georgia Violence Prevention Partnership began with Metropolitan Atlanta Violence Prevention Partnership as its first chapter. What started as a visionary effort to treat violence as a preventable public health crisis has grown into a statewide movement united under ONE Vision · ONE Voice · ONE Victory.
